Coláiste Dún Iascaigh transition year students took part in a bogathon along with their teachers Ms Martina Harrahill. and Mr Adam O’ Loughlin. These are one of the participant’s reflections on the event
There were tears, there was laughter, but we all made it back, the Bogathon truly conquered us all.
The Bogathon took place on the 9th May 2017at Lisduff Adventure Farm. The TY’s were invited to complete a 5km long route, with a variety of obstacles to complete including: climbing over bales of hay, crawling through nets, tires, and not to forget, “swimming” through a dense blanket of bog. This challenging obstacle course is not only designed to challenge your fitness, but also to challenge your perseverance and strength of character.
Some of the teachers and SNA’s also came along for the day, although not all of them participated. We had students and teachers spurring us on from the side lines, whilst they took pictures of us in “the ugly zone”.
Teamwork was essential for the bogathon experience. Everyone was helping each other out, no matter who they were and no one was ever left behind.
At the end of the day everyone was tired but the hot curry chips cheered us up. Overall everyone enjoyed it.
